MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE

Finally something worth seeing and talking about!!! Loved it… the mix of great music newly treated and many styles of dance not usually melded together made it a fresh and entertaining event! I actually came to tears a couple of times… not sure why other than these people were human and were trying to communicate with me. Go see it …. I loved it!!!

PHENOMENAL DANCERS BUT LACKED POWER

We just went last night, and they did have a few technical issues. No problem. It was slow to start the show, and coming back from intermission it took forever. So we left. They did not announce why it took a long time to start coming back from intermission. The dancers were out of this world, but it was a bit boring. And I got confused on the storyline. Maybe if it were in a smaller venue it would have worked. I think having it at the Buell really was not a good idea. Because you have to really create a powerful voice or message to reach people in the back. Unless they were talking, or a different story. Something was lacking. And the dancers were not really at fault. You can tell they did their best. But overall the show was a bit boring.

RECORDED MUSIC ON BAD SOUND SYSTEM

Sat in first row, way too loud and asked to be moved. No live music, singing or dialogue. Dancing was good not great. Costumes and set very low budget, simple and plain. 2 stars because I liked and knew the songs.

BORING DANCE SHOW

The show was a disappointment. The dancing was average. Choreography was not entertaining. The storyline was not clear and confusing. The show was just simply boring..

MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE ...ALONE AT SEA

Totally ill chereographed... without any thread of continuity....song after song being danced to stings music..which I found myself closing my eyes just to listen to the music... the dancing.. had some talented members but the rest are mediocre and horrible actually see let alone pay 200 dollars to see.. the incompetent choreography painfully drags on to force us to witness redundant, hip hop and breakable moves as if I was watching excerpts from the movie beat street that Lester Wilson cherographed at the start of the hip hop movement. Would it work in one or two pieces..yes it would but not 27.. this is not cirque du solely and its not a gymnastics competion.. I found all in all the show insulting to my sensibility and was turned into a show to the new social standard which we must be forced to accept and to watch it being stuck down our throats ..no subtleties here but blatant sexual and moral bias , clearly in the hands of an amateur.. I'm sorry I may a minority but I'm from the old theatre school, from the way things used to be and the way things ought to be are now simy being replaced with the way things are.. if you want a completely and totally forgettable piece of dance theatre then run to see message in a bottle.. I'm more upset for sting who could have gotten someone else...anyone else to actually cherograph to his iconic and mellifluous songs that have now been prostituted and vandalized in this steaming pile of horse caca... go and clap like an idiot me too movement member or stand your grand and sit or walk out disgust to protect the integrity of the American theatre..perhaps this and Shen Yun can do a joint seminar in overproduced and badly cherographed pieces at a local community college

UNCOMFORTABLE EXPERIENCE

The theater is heated to an extreme level...apparently for the dancer's preferences, but it felt like 35c and people were suffering! Also, the sound quality is downright painful, too loud and with way too much piercing midrange. They also smoke the entire audience for effect, but with the heat, it made it hard to breathe. Both my son and I got headaches after 20 min and had to leave, and we were not the only ones. The dancing was OK, but when one is in such discomfort, you hardly pay attention to it. If you enjoy waterbording, you may enjoy it. Otherwise, stay clear.
