This is a unique show - don’t expect Broadway glitz, but bathe in the music and gorgeous artistry.

AUGUST RUSH THE MUSICAL PARAMOUNT THEATER AURORA, IL. WORLD PREMIER
August Rush The Musical World Premier at the Paramount Theater, Aurora, IL. Brilliant adaption of this deceptively simple, engaging story of coming of age, Independence, betrayal, resilience, talent and hope. The staging and lighting is powerful and so cleverly utilized for this “one act,” no intermission journey of a young orphaned boy convinced his parents, who he has never seen, are somewhere looking for him. With music so central to the story itself, the story-telling through such a talented ensemble is enhanced by multi-gifted cast members whose acting, movement and incredible on-stage musicianship is mesmerizing. Right before the audience’s eyes in this wonderful theater, the intricacies of this limited dialogue, music dominated continuous movement thoroughly focused this fan of the movie drawing me into this wonderful new interpretation. Many thanks for this memorable performance. Bravo!

AUGUST RUSH
This show was amazing. I felt every emotion that each piece of music and song was portraying. My husband enjoyed very much also. Even though he had not seen the movie he was able to follow the story and thoroughly enjoyed the show! Loved every minute from beginning to end!

AUGUST RUSH
Interesting technique having one stage setup and running the performance without break/intermission! IT WORKED!! Really enjoyed the performers and their enthusiasm. Very impressed with the ability of the performers to sing and use multiple instruments (TALENTED). With additional performances this show will only get better and be a 5 STAR!

DIFFERENT BUT STILL GOOD
The premise of the play was a little strange but the acting and the singing were very well done. I saw some bad reviews. I don't agree with them at all. It was a little slow, but overall a good performance.

EXCEPTIONAL AND UNIQUE “WORK IN PROGRESS”
OK. This was a stretch “4”. We saw the show on the second weekend. The performances, the music, the acting, and the staging were as good or better than the high quality we have grown to expect at the Paramount. And the visuals were exceptional. However, the storyline is a little thin and left us wanting for more to be added as the show continues to be developed. There is a need for more to make the audience care about all the characters. We also had a hard time understanding where they were going with the Wizard and The Coummunity - Charles Manson or a band of merry street musicians. We did hear several people saying as they left that it just wasn’t their type of show, and I think that will be a common reaction. It will be interesting to see where this eventually evolves.

AUGUST RUSH
Beautiful, different, enjoyable ... Especially if you love music. A lovely show with talented musicians/actors. Gentle flowing work of art. Thoroughly inspiring....calming ....loved it!

AUGUST RUSH
I liked the unique staging of this production. Ensemble numbers were mostly enjoyable. The August Rush character was talented and pleasant to watch.. Being unfamiliar with the story line, I found it difficult to follow.

TOO ARTSY FOR ME.
Honestly, I was bored and almost fell asleep. The music all sounded the same. The actors were talented, but I couldn’t wait until it was over.

NOT A FAN
The was, by far, my least favorite show that I have seen at Paramount. The acting/singing was good, but the songs and format were just weird. I couldn't wait for it to be over.

NOT A GOOD PRODUCTION
A group of 8 of us went to see August Rush last Sunday, 4/28. Extremely disappointing. The story was poorly written, almost confusing. Nothing like the movie, including all the great songs and choirs . Basic set, 85 minutes. Everything we have seen at the paramount has been great. This is not even good.

CAN'T RECOMMEND THIS ONE
Sorry Paramount, I am a big fan of your productions but this is one I wouldn't recommend seeing to anyone. Although I very much appreciated the very talented & gifted performers I just didn't feel a connection to anything, (the characters, the music, the staging, etc.) at anytime. I also didn't care for how the Wizard character was portrayed. All I could think of every time I saw him was Max Headroom. When the play was over & I turned to my friend the first thing out of her mouth was "I couldn't wait for this to be over!"

REALLY MORE OF AN OPERA THAN A PLAY
The lack of dialogue (spoken word as opposed to musical word) arts the drama. We sat at the back of the theater and the lyrics were unintelligible, especially as sung by the boy acting as narrator. The music was enjoyable, with beautiful strings. The performers are surely very talented in more than one art. I don't ee it as a Broadway product, and certainly way below the other Paramount productions that I have enjoyed.

TERRIBLE SHOW
Impossible to follow, unmemorable music, ridiculous interpretation of the movie.

PASS ON THIS PRODUCTION
Extremely disappointing from beginning to end. We loved the movie and the soundtrack, expecting to hear more from that. Total disconnect on the chemistry of the characters. Grateful it was only 80 minutes long. Been looking forward to this production since it was announced. Huge letdown.

WORST PLAY EVER
I had no idea what was going on. Couldn't understand the words they were singing to tell their story. It ended abruptly. Glad is was over
