Why see What Became of Us?
Some Relationships Shape A Lifetime
Described by The Observer as “a soaring, poetic play you’ll want to see twice”, this deeply affecting new story heads to Washington’s Signature Theatre to celebrate the people who know us best and the bonds that remain even when life takes us in different directions. Performed by alternating casts from different diasporic backgrounds, What Became of Us offers audiences a different perspective each night.
What's The Story?
Spanning decades, continents, and countless shared memories, What Became of Us follows a brother and sister as they grow from children into adults, parents, and eventually old age. Bound by blood but shaped by different experiences, they move through life side by side, sometimes in harmony and sometimes at odds.
As the world around them changes, they wrestle with questions of identity, belonging, and what it means to call a place home. Through moments both ordinary and life-changing, their connection is tested, strengthened, broken and rebuilt.
