Urinetown: The Musical

Urinetown: The Musical at Signature Theater

Why see Urinetown: The Musical?

A Brilliant Bold Satire!

Debuting on Broadway in 2001, Urinetown: The Musical took the art of satire to brazen new heights with its critically lauded skewering of capitalism, the legal system, bureaucracy, and politics. Running for three years and garnering three Tony Awards, the riotous musical now gets ready to shower the Signature in with its bonkers brilliance as part of the 2026/27 season!

What Is The Story?

Poking fun at social injustices as well as itself (clearly parodying big Broadway hits like The Threepenny Opera and Les Mis), the story is set in a dystopian future, where a twenty-year drought has taken hold. Because of the water shortage, private toilets are illegal, and the public ones are controlled by a big brother-esque corporation. If you pee without paying up, you're sent to the infamous Urinetown...
