Mathew Broderick Stars In Adaption of 1922 Novel
Originally released in 1922, the novel written by Sinclair Lewis (Nobel Prize winner), garnered immense popularity and critical acclaim. Now, over 100 years later, Tony Award-winning playwright Joe DiPietro has teamed up with Hollywood star Matthew Broderick (who makes his Shakespeare Theatre Company debut) to bring this much anticipated new production to Harmon Hall this fall, directed by Christopher Ashley.
What Is Babbit About?
George F. Babbitt, a middle-aged real estate broker residing in the Midwestern city of Zenith, leads a prosperous and respectable middle-class life during the day. However, when night falls, he grapples with the haunting notion that his existence has amounted to nothing. Driven by a yearning for a greater purpose, Babbitt takes a daring leap into the most spectacular rebellion of his life, a rebellion that may ultimately jeopardize everything he holds dear.
