The sweeping soundscapes of cinema grace the Kennedy Center in June with the National Symphony Orchestra! As part of Notes & Frames: A Film and Music Festival, James Gaffigan conducts a program of works by film composers across three days, headlined by a Saturday rendition of movie-music royalty John Williams' Horn Concerto, featuring the talented Abel Pereira.
Each night spotlights a concerto written by some of today's leading voices in film composition, sandwiched between a program featuring Nino Rota's Godfather Suite and Leonard Bernstein's On the Waterfront, among other gems. Thursday welcomes Grammy-winning violinist James Ehnes for a performance of James Newton Howard's Violin Concerto No. 2, while Friday's program showcases Michael Abels' Delights and Dances. Then on Saturday, NSO Principal Horn Abel Pereira brings the three day bonanza to a close with John Williams' Horn Concerto.
