Why see In the Heights?

Vanessa Hudgens stars in In the Heights

Before Hamilton took over the world, creative genius Lin-Manuel Miranda already had Tony-winning In The Heights on Broadway, now the man of the moment brings it to Washington. Starring the likes of Vanessa Hudgens, Ana Villafane and Eden Espinosa don't miss out when In The Heights comes to Washington.

Set in the Manhattan neighbourhood of Washington Heights, In the Heights tells the story of three generations as they tread the uncertain waters of a neighbourhood engulfed in change. With a score that features a mix of rap and Salsa as well as some traditional musical theatre style numbers this musical is perfect for any Lin fan! In the Heights is an enthralling portrait of a community not often shown in the mainstream as they cling onto their community and dream for a better future.

What is In the Heights about?

Usnavi is a Bodega owner and spends his days caring for the old woman next door, pining after the girl who works in the beauty salon and dreaming of winning the lottery and heading back to the Dominican Republic. As Nina, an old childhood friend, returns from College with some surprising news, Usnavi and his close-knit neighbourhood get a dose of what it means to be home.

Immerse yourself in NYC while sitting in NOVA

From the moment you walk into the theatre, you are surrounded by the sights of NYC from the subway signs to the store signs. The stage runs directly through the middle of the room allowing for the cast to enter and exit from all corners of the room, making the audience feel like they are just leaning out of their apartment window catching glimpses of the life on the street. The excellent performances and songs keep the show moving from beginning to end. Don't miss this show! ... Read more
