The Gay Men's Chorus of Washington D.C takes to the Kennedy Center stage this summer with their much anticipated new work; Portraits. A multi-disciplinary piece that has been four years in the marking, Portraits brings together artists, composers, choreographers, and performers to create a nine-movent oratorio, an audio-visual tapestry that meditates on sexuality, gender, race, and ethnicity and how they intertwine with our identity and self-expression.
The voice of equality in the nation's capital, The Gay Men's Chorus of Washington D.C (GMCW) was founded in 1981, inspired by a performance from the San Franciso Gay Men's Chorus at the Kennedy Center. Since then, they've been a powerful force in the LGBTQ community, playing 100s of shows across the country. Now 250 members strong, with their own Youth Chorus, they continue to influence and entertain, continuing their mission to fight for equality with every performance.
