The elephants of mars
The legendary axeman is about to head out on tour, celebrating the release of his 19th full length album 'The Elephants of Mars'. The mammoth 44-date tour will see Satriani playing throughout the U.S. and Canada. The last time Satriani hit the road was back in 2018, four years ago! So fans all over are more than ready to see the four-piece including Kenny Aronoff, Rai Thistlewayte and Bryan Beller back doing what they do best.
The man behind the axe
Satriani started his music career as a guitar instructor before going on to tour with the likes of Mick Jagger for the latter's first solo tour, Brian May and Steve Morse during the Eighties and Nineties. When out of the recording studio or not touring he continues to keep his hectic work pace up by perfecting his own signature range of Ibanez guitars, the JS Series as well as his own distortion pedals.
Satriani is currently the lead guitarist for the group Chickenfoot, a hard rock band hailing from the USA and made up of several other rock icons including Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer, Chad Smith. Citing major influences such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Ritchie Blackmore and Jeff Beck, he has mastered a huge range of picking skills, and is famed for his prodigious skill in tapping, volume swells and legato, to name a few.
