God Almighty is Tom Story!
With the 2017/18 season now in full swing, acclaimed Washington actor Tom Story once again takes to the stage following his recent turns in Angels in America and Fully Committed, as the Lord Almighty himself, the latest actor to take on the robes. David Javerbaum's hit creation has enjoyed extended runs in New York, as well as a successful national tour; this Signature Theatre production gives us an entirely new set of Commandments, complete with swearing, profanity and wry observations on today's popular culture.
About the show
Javerbaum, an accomplished comedy writer, musical theatre librettist and lyricist, has an astounding 13 Emmys and two Grammys under his belt for his longstanding work for Comedy Central's The Daily Show. His take on the modern relationship between God and man, billed as a message from the Almighty as transcribed by himself, is 464 pages of pure audacity; an attempt at the personification of a supreme deity with hilarious results. How else could one describe the musings of a God who keeps up with the latest season of American Idol?
The role of God has previously been taken on by Golden Globe Award-winning actor Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory, as well as Sean Hayes, the Emmy-winning actor from Will and Grace.
