BRING THE FAMILY AND DO NOT MISS "CAMELOT" AT THE MUNY

You may have seen the musical, the movie or read "The Once and Future King." This year's Muny production offers the classic tale and beautiful music with a fresh update. You will leave humming the tunes and convinced of the timelessness of its message. With season tickets, I have seen "Camelot" since my parents took me in 1965. This is a show for the entire family. I would recommend a picnic dinner to be enjoyed listening to pre-show entertainment on the grounds of the country's oldest outdoor theater!

PRODUCTION PROVES THE STRENGTH OF THE MATERIAL

I never saw the original Broadway production of Camelot. That said, I really did not need to. As a child of music and Musical loving parents, I spent untold hours listening to the Cast recording. This started within days of the album's release. I "knew" the story of Camelot through the songs. Unlike many modern musicals hung upon one or two strong numbers, and bolstered by the mediocre, Camelot has virtually zero weak material. The story is told through the songs, and for me, they are enough. Further, I found the sound excellent. Too many current directors and sound engineers go for the "Wham Bam" sound, burying the vocals in the pounding orchestrations. Not so here. While many found the set design and costuming distracting, to me they simply proved that if the music is strong, the musical shines. The cast of Camelot performed several of the songs on "The Ed Sullivan Show" back in the day. Despite sparse costuming and sets, these performances secured Camelot's success.

2022 CAMELOT

The acting, dancing and singing were awesome! But there was no scenery really and the costumes were strange except for the 3 main characters. Seems the story line was changed....it was a little odd.

CAMELOT MEETS THE FANTASTICS

With a minimal set and confused costumes, this version is less stunning and more bewildering. The diversity casting jars the viewer from13th century England to hip hop. Arthur is the most complete performer. Guinevere and Lancelot had zero chemistry and were not believable or inspiring. Not worth the time.

Disappointed in Camelot left at intermission tonight There were five of us and we are season ticket holders This production misses the charm of previous productions by modernizing it No Castles, armor, beautiful costumes, and beautiful scenery Seems like cast was picked for diversity which is good but overdone The setting was not good worst production I’ve seen This was one of my husbands favorite musical Been season ticket holders for over 40 years second production we left at Half time

CAMELOT IS A DUD

If I had a chance I would give it zero stars.....not the actors....but who ever re imagined this classic......I think it is time for a change at artistic director because this is another recent example of totally missing the mark. Just like Paint your Wagon......

TOO MUCH EDITING OF THE STORY. TOO MUCH POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.

No overture? It was one of my favorite overtures. It sounded more like a concert band than a symphony orchestra. I saw the 1965 show, and was elated with it. I could deal with the totally woke presentation, but the music was mediocre, and they left out the most beautiful song, "Follow Me", and Merlin himself, except for a few mentions. The joust tournament was laughable. This was not up to Muny standards. Chicago was a very good show. The singers were all talented.
