Originally published in 1985, Margaret Atwood's masterpiece The Handmaid's Tale has became part of the national zeitgeist once again following the election of Donald Trump. A weighty and violent Hulu adaptation is also on our screen, so the time is definitely right for a parody musical!

Co-written by Marcia Belsky (creator of the Headless Women of Hollywood Tumblr), this Handmaid's Tale molds Atwood's vision into a witty takedown of Brooklyn millennials. The show begins with smalltown girl Offred arriving in NYC with dreams of becoming a barista. Unfortunately, her dreams are thwarted by the dystopia on the horizon! The show for everyone who found the Hulu series a little too dark, The Handmaid's Tale: The Musical is a campy, over-the-top treat, which still has some important things to say.
