Back in the nation's capital for its annual engagement, NYCB present a mixed repertory double-program featuring three works by Balanchine, as well as from Justin Peck, Christopher Wheeldon, and Alexei Ratmansky, which have yet to be seen outside the New York arts sphere. Known as the father of the NYCB George Balanchine remains their biggest influence; however their welcoming of new and exciting young choreographers ensures that their repertory remains fresh and vivid, with new pieces commissioned every year.
In addition to Balanchine's trio of Square Dance, Tarantella and The Four Temperaments, Program One comprises a brand-new work by Ratmansky and Rodeo: Four Dance Episodes by Justin Peck set to Aaron Copland's Americana score.
(TUE./WED./SAT. EVES. & SUN. MAT)
Program Two features a brand-new 2017 premiere by Justin Peck, and American Rhapsody by Christopher Wheeldon, created for the Company's 2016 Spring Gala.
(THU./FRI. EVES. & SAT. MAT.) All works are performed live by the New York City Ballet and Orchestra.
