Ex-Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams takes the role of Mary Magdalene in a new 51-date national arena tour of Jesus Christ: Superstar, following the hugely successful UK and Australian tours. The winner of British talent search show, "Superstar", Ben Forster takes the titular role, and rock fans will be delighted to hear that he will be joined by Sex Pistols' Johnny Rotten and Incubus' Brandon Boyd.
Featuring the hits "I Don't Know How to Love Him" and "Jesus Christ: Superstar", this show is one of the brashest, bombastic musicals ever conceived, and the tour?s offbeat casting promises a production like no other.
Created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice in 1971, the Jesus Christ: Superstar was the first controversial rock opera. Anachronistic and passionate, this big-scale revival has a contemporary vibe, incorporating the recent Occupy movement and aspects light entertainment, Superstar is a soaring spectacle that won't disappoint rock and rollin' fans!
Based on the gospel, the show chronicles the final days of Jesus, as he contends with the betrayal of Judas and evaluates his relationships with his apostles and the world around him as he faces the last great ordeal of his life.
