ClassicalConcerts

An inventor of music

The consummate ability of Igor Stravinsky is the focus of this fascinating program featuring the talents of conductor Gianandrea Noseda and violinist Leila Josefowicz. The latter will lend her prominent skill to the composer's Violin Concerto in D major alongside his experimental exploration of the brass and woodwind sections, 1920's Symphonies of Wind Instruments.

Providing the frame of this illustrious portrait are two linked works, Mozart's majestic Symphony 39, and W.F Bach's arrangement of his Adagio and Fugue in F Minor.

Known for his innovative approach and diversity of style, Stravinsky is one of the most influential composers of the 20th Century. So much so that in 1982 the United States Postal Service granted the already well decorated man with the highest honor, being featured on his own 2 cent stamp!
