Written by August Wilson in 1979, Jitney tells the story of a group of jitney (unlicensed taxi) drivers in the 1970s and their fight to survive amongst Pittburgh's 'urban renewal'.

Established in 1950, Arena Stage is a not-for-profit regional theater based in Southwest Washington, D.C. It is now located at the Mead Center for American Theater complex since its renovation and opening in 2010. The renovation included the construction of a third small theater in a complex with two different style and shaped theatres. The company's average annual audience is over 300,000. Its productions have received numerous local and national awards, including the Tony Award for best regional theater.
