Ann is a comical and inspiring production based on the colorful and complex woman whose sense of humor was bigger than the state which she represented.
Arena Stage
Ann was written by award-winning actress and writer Holland Taylor and chronicles the fascinating life of Ann Richards who died in 2006 after acting as the 45th Governor of Texas. This hilarious play acts as a tribute to Ann, who was a Democrat and the second female governor of Texas as well as being known as a feminist icon.
Holland Taylor has been working on this wonderful production ever since Ann sadly passed away 13 years ago. The play delves into Ann's life and depicts the highs and lows, including her experiences with alcoholism and cancer.
The production played to sold-out audiences in Ann's home state of Texas and went on to play on Broadway at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater. The New York Times described the play as being "Frank, funny and warm."
