Michael James Leslie Replaces James Monroe Iglehart In Little Shop Horrors
Performances begin October 24
The hit musical Little Shop of Horror's, which is set to open tomorrow at the Kennedy Center, have announced that Broadway alum Michael James Leslie will replace Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart as Audrey II.
Iglehart, who won a Tony award for his turn as the Genie in Disney's Aladdin, has had to depart the production to unforeseen circumstances which don't have anything to do with the production.
Michael James Leslie was an original cast member of the production's 2003 Broadway debut where he understudied the role of Audrey II, he also went on to voice the role full-time in the 2004 national tour. Leslie's most recent theatre credits include as Judge Turpin in the off-Broadway run of Sweeney Todd.
The cast also includes Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother) as Seymour and Megan Hilty as Audrey II in this Mark Brokaw production.
What is Little Shop Of Horrors about?
The botanical bloodfest begins when hapless florist shop assistant Seymour discovers a mysterious talking plant during a total eclipse. Seymour names the seemingly-miraculous plant Audrey II after the object of his unrequited love, the original Audrey who also works at the shop. Fame and fortune come calling for Seymour, but will the plants growing taste for blood hamper his attempts to win over the kind and sweet Audrey? Probably.
Little Shop of Horrors will run at the Eisenhower Theater from October 24 to October 28.
