Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning actor and filmmaker Tom Hanks is one of the most recognisable figures in entertainment today. Graduating from sitcom actor to major Hollywood player throughout the course of his illustrious career, Hanks now turns his hand to writing. Join the charismatic new author for an evening of conversation about his new compilation of short stories, Uncommon Type.

Inspired by his love of typewriters, each of the 17 stories bears this as a common theme. One story follows an immigrant who travels to New York after civil war destroys his home, one follows an actor behind-the-scenes and another follows a man who becomes a porting sensation after bowling the perfect game. Hanks explores the complexities of human nature and family dynamics whilst preserving a sense of whimsy and awe.
