An evening of opera and insight with the former Supreme Court Justice
Exploring justice in opera with the former Supreme Court Justice
Exploring justice in opera with the former Supreme Court Justice
An evening at the opera with a difference: Justice Ruth Bader-Ginsburg takes a fascinating discussion on justice, criminality and human rights as depicted in the opera and wider context, making it an excellent companion evening to Champion and Dead Men Walking. A fan of WNO, the now-retired Supreme Court Justice joins Artistic Director and host Francesca Zambello as they examine the legal issues presented in opera, the arias of which will be sung by Domingo-Cafritz Young Artists for a lively mix of performance and discussion.
Justice Ruth Bader-Ginsburg is notable for being only the second female Supreme Court Justice appointed after Sandra Day O'Connor, and an outspoken activist for womens' rights. Now a pop culture icon in her own right, she has been immortalized as the Notorious RBG for her fiery speeches of dissent, spawning a roaring trade in T-shirts, dolls and other collectables.
