Undoubtedly deserving of the title of one the 20th Century's most innovative and well-loved choreographers, George Balachine has left a legacy of beauty and form in his works that is yet to be outdone. In this trio of his best known works, his beloved New York City Ballet continues to display the level of talent and understanding in ballet that earned him the title of ballet icon.

Serenade
The first work Balanchine ever produced in America, this 1934 piece has come to define his vison and spirit and continues to be performed in every season. Serenade is a signature piece of the NYCB cannon, a sublime and meta piece, the iconic blue tutus worn by the ballerinas directly inspired the naming of the Balanchine crater on the planet Mercury!
Agon
Set to the music of Stravinsky, Agon takes the lead from 17th century French dance manuals, and perfectly highlights the partnership of the two, as they went on to create some of their most prolific and popular works together, changing the landscape of contemporary dance with the combination of their talents.
Symphony in C
An exuberant and vivid finale, Symphony in C displays the prowess of 50 dances to Bizet's excitable score.
