Why See American Ballet Theatre: Cinderella?

Once upon a time...

The American Ballet Theatre celebrate their 75th Anniversary with this classic comic twist on Cinderella from the legendary choreographer Sir Frederick Ashton, that utterly takes the audience on an enchanting journey through fantastic dreams to frothy and exquisite romance.

And they all lived happily ever after!

Devitating from the fairy tale, Ashton's Cinderella still utilizes Provkofiev's deleciously haunting score, but places the action in the poor maid's dreams, where far from her daily chores she becomes a beautiful ballerina, leaving her troubles behind. When her dreams take her to the royal palace, to the prince, she is memorized. But when she finds a glass slipper or pointe shoe in her apron, she begins to wonder if her double life is more than just a fantasy.
